Etecia Brown, owner of Letthemflourish, will facilitate a 2-hour queer BIPOC reproductive & preconception health workshop at Qulture Collective in Oakland on May 4th from 1 pm - 3 pm. Participants will explore the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of becoming a parent and improve their existing advocacy skills around LGBTQI2S reproductive justice and family planning issues.
Rooted in both spiritual and ancestral frameworks, this workshop provides accessible knowledge about fertility treatment options, pre-conception wellness, the historical and political nuances of queer families of color, common pregnancy challenges that affect the black community, navigating medical care and coverage as a queer family, non-synthetic tools for supporting a healthy pregnancy.
Empowered with the tools necessary to grow, protect, and nurture their families, participants will gain a refreshed and holistic understanding of conception and family expansion.
This workshop is useful for those who are planning a pregnancy, those who are currently pregnant, those who know someone who is planning a pregnancy or those who would like to become more informed on the reproductive health disparities and access to care that exist in queer communities of color. All are welcome.
Etecia Brown is a 4th generation San Francisco native and a certified full spectrum doula, queer reproductive health & fertility coach, and herbal apprentice.
Light refreshments will be served. You are invited to bring in an object to share in the collective altar (you can take with you at the end of workshop). Participants will also receive printed materials, discounts on services and products, and free giveaways. Please bring a yoga mat (optional).
